Why do you offer perpetual, year round, swimming lessons?

By holding our lessons in a long school year type schedule we want to give your child the best opportunity to gain the confidence and the skills they need in the water. Each student learns and grows at their own pace. This new method for us will allow your swimmer to move to the next level when they are ready. We will continue to determine readiness to move by looking at the  comfort level in the water as well as a mastery of the skills being taught in any given level. Some children may take a month, some may take six months. That is just fine. We continue to promote our program as a foundations based program. In each level we will focus on Bouyancy, Balance, Body Position and Breath Control and how to incorporate the four B’s into strokes and good swimming. Of utmost important to us is safe swimmers, swimmers with an understanding of the properties of water pool and swimmers who have mastered skills.

When can I sign up for lessons?

You can sign up at any time.

Is there a registration fee?

There is a $35 per family Registration Fee every 12 months

Why do you charge, in advance, the prorated amount for lessons when I first sign up?

With such a full schedule, we are unable to reserve a spot without payment. For the swimmers and for scheduling purposes we cannot allow parents to hold spots and then drop out at the last minute. Our staffing needs and class schedules are based on enrollment.

How do I take a break from lessons?

To "take a break", a cancellation form must be provided 30 days prior to the next auto payment. For example: if you want to "take a break" February 1st, provide a Cancellation Form no later than January 1st

Why do I need to give 30 days notice before taking a break from a class?

The wait list gets very long and 30 days gives us an ample amount of time to cancel your enrollment and fill your slot. We also determine our staffing needs and other operational costs based on the enrollment for each month.

What if I join in the middle of the month?

You will be charged the pro-rated amount for the month in which you are starting swim lessons plus the $35 registration fee. You will then go into automatic billing system for all future months.

Are make ups offered for missed lessons?

Can you guarantee that I will get my favorite instructor?

Many of our families have become attached to their instructors.  We know that different students respond to different teaching personalities. We will always try to accommodate these needs. We cannot guarantee an instructor and we reserve the right to change an instructor if necessary.

What happens if my instructor’s schedule changes but I can’t change my schedule?

Occasionally, situations arise that require an instructor to change their schedule. Should this happen, we will do our best to work with you in changing your time to accommodate the new schedule or finding you a different qualified instructor. All of our instructors are required to take Michael Phelps Swim School instructor training prior to starting and throughout their time with us, therefore we believe our instructors are equally qualified.

What if my class only has one or two swimmers?

If a group class has only one or two students enrolled in it we do reserve the right to consolidate or cancel that class.

What is your sick policy?

What happens if there is inclement weather?

We try to hold lessons whenever possible, in the event of inclement weather and we must cancel any lessons you will be notified by email. In addition, it will be on the website as well as our Facebook page. If lessons are cancelled, you will receive a credit on your next billing cycle.

Should my swimmer wear a swim diaper?

If your swimmer is not potty trained, we do ask that you put them in a swimming diaper.

Can I sit on the deck and watch my child swim?

Parents may observe the lessons from the lobby windows. Parents are not allowed on the pool deck. We ask that you attempt to be minimally visible because your presence distracts the children. They often become more interested in watching you than listening to the instructor.

What if my child cries?

If your child is unhappy and does not want to come to class, please let us know. We want to work with you and your child. Most times we can make a child feel comfortable about the lessons if we show respect for their feelings, patience, and understanding. We have also found that if we show the children our confidence they rise to the occasion. We are not afraid of tears and fears. It is often part of learning something new.

Do you offer discounts?
